Thanks Treehouse

Recently I hit a cool benchmark of 10,000 points on the technology education website, Treehouse. I really like what they offer and really owe a lot of my career to them. I guarantee you, without learning what I’ve learned from them I never would’ve been hired at Automattic.

In celebration of those points, I decided I needed to get some Treehouse stickers on my laptop. I remembered they had a swag store up at one point, but they took it down. Not to be deterred, I emailed their support team and they offered to send me some stickers to celebrate the occasion. They also added a cool “Thanks!” card with a hand-written note inside!

Mike the Frog now gets to chill along with Wapuu and friends on my laptop.

  1. Do you have a referral link? I’d love to try this out but would also love a friend of mine to benefit. 🙂

    1. We recently setup a group account at Automattic and moved my profile onto that, so I’m not seeing referal bonuses anywhere now . If you wanted to try a taste of it there’s a program through the Louisville Free Public Library that lets you have some access for 14 days at a time: http://www.lfpl.org/treehouse/

  2. Are there any courses or tracks you found especially useful? I always get overwhelmed at all the choices when I check out new learning platforms like this. 🙂 That said, I see a few enticing options and might have to give it a try!

    1. I started with the front-end developer track, and now I’m about halfway through the full-stack JavaScript track. I think the way they lay it out it’s best to pick a track rather than hopping around the library of courses unless you particularly know what it is you want to learn and the course for it is obvious. A lot of courses start by saying ‘make sure you know xyz first’ but on the tracks it’s never an issue.
